Dr. Vishal Kesari

Vishal Kesari received M. Sc. (Physics) degree from Veer Bahadur Sing Purvanchal University, India, and Ph. D. (Electronics Engineering) degree from Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University (IT-BHU) (now known as Indian Institute of Technology (IIT-BHU)), India, in 2001 and 2006, respectively. Currently, he is a Senior Scientist at Microwave Tube Research and Development Centre (MTRDC), Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Bengaluru, India. He served as Lecturer at Birla Institute of Technology, Ranchi, India and Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad, India. He was also a Research Fellow at Centre of Advanced Study, Electronics Engineering Department, IT-BHU and he significantly contributed to sponsored research projects at Centre of Research in Microwave Tubes, IT-BHU. His research and development interest area includes microwave and millimeter-wave vacuum electronic devices and modules, and he has successfully developed in this area various models, theories, methods, technologies, devices and modules either as a project member or a project leader as evidenced by technology transfer documents, internal technical reports, publication in peer-reviewed journals, and publication of books and book chapters.

He has authored/co-authored 6 book chapters, 36 research papers in peer-reviewed journals, 107 research papers in conference proceedings, 57 technical articles in Hindi magazines. He has edited/compiled more than 25 proceedings of conferences/ workshop/webinars/short-term courses/magazines and also around 230 technical reports (internal) in DRDO. He has been in editorial board of various DRDO magazines. He has delivered 41 invited talks at various institutes and R&D establishments. He has been in organizing committees of various technical events in India and abroad. He has acted as reviewers for various peer-reviewed journals (IEEE, Springer, Taylor and Francis, Elsevier, IET, Progress in Electromagnetic Research, etc.) and conference proceedings. He has supervised more than 25 academic dissertations/projects of M.Tech./M.Sc/B.Tech./B.E. level.

He has to his credit 294 international/national/departmental level awards/medals/ recognition. He has been recognized as Golden Reviewer of IEEE Electron Device Letters for the years 2014, 2015, 2018, 2020-2022, 2025 and of IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices for the years 2014-2025, and also Reviewer of IEEE Microwave and Wireless Technology Letters for the years 2015, 2021, 2023. He is Guest Editor, IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science, and Guest Editor, Special Issue on High Power Microwave (HPM) Devices and Systems: Progress, Technologies, and Applications of Journal of Electromagnetic Waves and Applications (JEMWA)

He is Fellow of Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE), India; Life Member of Vacuum Electronic Devices and Applications Society (VEDAS), India; Administrator and Member of Thinkers in Vacuum Electron Devices WhatsApp Group (VEDWG), India; Editor of Webinar Proceedings of VEDWG; member, American Society of Quality, USA; member, Indian Society for VLSI Education, India; and member, Nagari Nirali, New Delhi, India.
